Young Baker Lad Drowned In Baker Lake
The second drowning this summer in Baker Lake occurred last Friday when nine year old Bobbie Miller son of Mr and Mrs Glenn Miller drowned not far from the ice house after a canoe ride with companion Lorne Bonner. Bonner swam ashore and a lake search failed to find the boy for two hours. Doctors and neighbors tried to revive him but he died. The funeral was held Saturday at Congregational church Rev Evans officiating with interment in the local cemetery.

Miss Groll and mother complete 700 mile horseback trek to Chicago
Miss Gladys Groll aged 20 and her 60 year old mother rode from Missoula to Chicago, seven hundred miles along the Yellowstone Trail. They report excellent health, endure cold nights and bad weather, and sell postcard views of their ride. Groll is known for fancy riding and pistol shooting. Their husband and son hold military ranks in Canadian and United States armies respectively.

Auto license reform aims to curb crowded vehicle use

Sheriff Seizes Carlyle Pool Hall for Liquor Sale
Citizens complain led to Sheriff Jones taking charge of Charles Doubles pool hall in Carlyle. County Attorney Dousman prosecuted before Justice Briley Douglas. After pleading guilty, Doubles paid a $100 fine while four and a half barrels of beer were dumped into a gutter.

Death of Clark H. Hubbard City region man dies after long illness
Clark H. Hubbard died Monday at the family home twelve miles northwest of Baker after a year of liver trouble. He was in his 90s and had moved from Wisconsin in 1914 to Fallon county. Surviving are eight children and a widow Mrs Elizabeth Hubbard. Funeral services were held at the family home with Rev Evans, followed by burial at Baker cemetery. Hubbard was a lifelong Methodist and active church worker. Born July 25 1844 in Rochester New York, he later lived in Dane County Wisconsin before relocating to Montana.

Storm Sunday Destroys Zook and Kruckeberg Building
A violent wind storm hit Sunday afternoon causing widespread damage in Baker. The concrete block building under construction for Zook and Kruckeberg by contractor Griesy suffered total wall collapse and about 1500 dollars in losses with no windstorm insurance. Debris cleanup began Monday as others report hail damage to crops and partial losses.

A cyclonic whirl struck Arthur Garvin's farm five miles southeast of Baker last Sunday afternoon destroying his newly built barn. The loss is reported as considerable with no injuries mentioned.
