Military Service Course Aims to Train Montana Youths
The University of Montana offers a one year military service course at Montana state college and university to prepare young men for the citizen soldier role. It covers signals engineering and transportation operations, with the goal of enabling graduates to later earn a bachelor’s degree in three years. The program emphasizes practical skill over rote memorization and seeks to develop the disciplined spirit needed for efficient organization and enlistment readiness. Captain Lincoln C. Andrews cites citizen duties requiring military knowledge and intelligent opinion on national service.
