Iowa Republicans to take control of liquor panel
Iowa politics weigh the future of the liquor control commission as Republican M L Curtis prepares to replace Democrat Andrew Stewart. Holdovers include Chairman B E Manley and Commissioner Dick Lane. Rumors of mass firings contrast with Republican claims of no tampering. Analysts question if routine resignations will rise as party loyalty pressure grows. The piece also notes debate over aid to dependent children and a secret poll on funding. A June 6 safety council jubilee dinner in Des Moines commemorates an award for the state program.
