James D. Prentice takes over the Alta market he co owned with his father for five years. R J Prentice buys another grocery and market at Algona. Lola Morrissey returns home from Fort Morgan for the summer with her parents. L Hawley plans to transport three Alta pacers to Canadian races Thursday morning. Gordon Matsen will coach at Maynard High School starting next September. Miss Jean Christensen wed Robert Sexton at Moville Methodist Church with Rev T E Hoon officiating.
Five hundred 14 day old pheasant chicks will arrive Tuesday June 6 from the state hatchery at Boone. The Cherokee County Conservation league ordered the chicks to be raised on the E H Lyman place north of town. Frank Simpson now local manager at Sutherlands after transfer from Town Public Service. Cherokee county boys may enroll in a CCC camp in July by contacting the public assistance office before June 10. Booth and Ohlson crews finished city street paving and will pave alleys early next week if weather holds. Miss Alice Barbara McGuire died Saturday morning at Sioux Valley hospital survived by sister Ann McGuire Cherokee and Mrs C J Jensen Aurelia and brother John P McGuire Sacramento Calif.
We express sincere thanks to the Aurelia fire department and all others who came to aid during the fire at our place. Your good work saved much property from destruction and is greatly appreciated by Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Waddell.
Mrs. Edgar Johnson hosts about 20 relatives for her birthday, with attendees from Cherokee Aurelia and Holstein area. Iris show attendants, hospital visits, showers and club meetings fill a week of local activity in Mt Olive and nearby towns.

The annual church Mission Rally will be held next Sunday at St Pauls Lutheran Church. German and English services begin at 10 45 AM with an English service at 2 46 PM when Rev. E C Mappes from Omaha will speak.
Arthur E. Hickey of Aurelia, county supervisor and social welfare board chairman, was named agent for the local surplus commodity program at a county supervisors meeting in the courthouse. He succeeds A. R. Hallbauer, who held the post for the past year, after state guidance suggested the welfare chairman assume the duties. Surplus commodities are federal feed supplies allotted to counties for relief families, handled through the Department of Public Assistance under Miss Esther V. Artist.
Vernon Wyoming church bulletin announces Pastor White leading Mount Olive Baptist Church with Sunday School at 10 AM and morning worship at 11 AM. No evening service this Sunday. A daily Bible school runs June 12 for two weeks from 8 30 to 11 30 with free enrollment for children.
