Obituary for John O. Swanson of Cherokee County Iowa
John O. Swanson born January 28 1855 in southern Sweden died May 28 1989 in Diamond township Cherokee county Iowa aged 84 years 3 months 26 days He lived in Sweden until age 25 coming to America with his niece Mrs M M Elk and nephew Jake Jacobson settling in Princeton Illinois for 23 years He married Augusta Swanson 1887 producing four children George Esther Rena Ebba Everhart She later married Sophia Gustafson December 1901 and had Elmer Milo Hazel Peterson Another step daughter Mrs Frank Erickson of Alta He moved to Galva Iowa February 1903 and lived in Ida County ten years before moving to Diamond Center area in Cherokee county except two years in Alta He remained active in church and odd fellows lodge His faith remained strong Surviving: three sons George Elmer Milo of Aurelia. four daughters Esther Rena and Mrs Richard Peterson of Aurelia Mrs Don Everhardt of Meriden. three grandchildren Donald Bonnie Nona Peterson. four step grandchildren and a host of relatives Interment in Galva cemetery May 26
