Governor Mitchell issues a proclamation detailing a murder at the home of William Jis in Bullock County. Captain Elijah Beacham of Montgomery County was killed by James Brantley, who has fled justice. A reward of 100 dollars is offered for Brantley’s capture and delivery to a safe jail in Georgia. The proclamation is dated September 2, 1811, Milledgeville.
