The firm Phelps and Howards announces a large new New York stock for hats and hatting supplies including beavers silks Morocco leathers linings and hat irons with a broad assortment of dry goods. They invite town and country customers to visit their new brick store and browse the extensive inventory.
A reward of 20 dollars is offered for the capture of a runaway Black man about 36 years old, 5 feet 8 inches, slender, thick lips, missing fore-teeth, formerly from Africa, last seen near Augusta. He wore a blue jacket and pantaloons, sometimes a blue coat, speaks broken English. Deliver him to the subscriber or jail him to receive the reward plus expenses.
Public notice warns all persons not to buy or trade forewing notes listed including notes of Dooly Bowers Bury Lark W A Bugg Glascock Morell Mill and others. Notes now held by James Morris who fraudulently obtained them and will not surrender. Attorneys Judith Ann Lehiff Samuel Dunbar executors on Maurice Lehiff estate.
A notice from H. W. Todd of Greene County offers 20 dollars for the return of a six foot tall very black bow legged man named RANSOM missing since around May first. The finder will receive the reward plus reasonable expenses or ten dollars if the man is jailed. The subscriber resides near Greensboro. Sept 20.
Governor Mitchell issues a public reward for James Brantley charged with stabbing Captain Elijah Beacham in Bullock County on August 3. The proclamation calls civil and military officers to aid in apprehension and securing Brantley for trial, offering one hundred dollars and naming Milledgeville as the state seat.
The inhabitants of Augusta and nearby areas are informed that Mr John Suder's Academy, next to Mr Bostin's Tavern, is now finished and open for pupils. He has arranged correspondence in Charleston to obtain new dances each year and will teach a broad range of dances including Congo Minuets Opera Dances Waltz Gavotte de Vestris and Cotillions with Fridays and Saturdays for tuition and an Evening School for young gentlemen. Apply to Mr Suder at Mr McCoy's on September 13.
James Morris of Augusta Georgia files a reply to a Caroniece notice dated September 13 1811 signed by Judith Ann Labiff and Samuel Dunbar as administratrix and administrator of Maurice Leunire. He asserts the attack on his character was unfounded and distant while he conducted estate business and seeks public clarification of alleged financial conduct.
