Lard Laden Steamer Stopped By Sweden
London dispatch reports the Gothenburg steamer laden with about 199000 pounds of lard was halted by Swedish authorities as she prepared to sail for Stockholm. A Reuters despatch notes suspicion she aimed for a German port. A second ship, the Aero, left Malmo for Stockholm with oats and lard and is said to have been seized by German torpedo boats and taken to Stettin. In response, the Swedish government issued a decree restricting export cargoes prohibited from transit between ports by water, banishing water routes in favor of rail where possible.
