New Orleans Cotton Market Shows Declines in June Movements
Secretary Hester reports a steady drop in sight movement for the week and June totals, with 1909 figures showing decreases from last year and 1906. Over the season, receipts lag behind 1906 and 1907, while overland flows to mills and Canada rise modestly. Foreign exports for the week shrink as Northern mills and Canada totals edge lower, with stock and interior gains uneven across regions.

Market Review of Cotton and Commodities in Week
New York June 24 The cotton market showed dull trading and irregular prices with some advance early in the week from short covering on adverse reports across the southwest and eastern belt. Texas Oklahoma and Georgia Carolina reports of drought and showers influenced buying, while Liverpool bids for July and August supported parts of the list. Certificated stock dropped sharply since June 1 and speculation on large shipments to Europe persisted. Copper and coffee prices moved on demand and world markets, with mixed futures and notable activity in imports, exports, and naval stores pricing.
