Chicago June 1 It has been many years since a Illinois jury considered a verdict of greater political importance than the one this afternoon on the charge of bribery against Les O'Neil Browne leader of the democratic minority in the Illinois house. The judge instructed the jury that uncorroborated accomplice testimony may be weighed but must be received with care and caution. The jury must find Browne guilty beyond a reasonable doubt on two propositions or return a not guilty verdict. The testimony of Beckemeyer and Link who confessed to receiving 4000 each was admitted to show motive to pay White in the Briggs house in June 1909 and to determine Browne's intent. State's Attorney Wayman spoke for the state in closing.
