Mrs Victor Innes Ill in Jail As Trial Looms

Mrs Victor Innes now confined in a Texas jail with her husband awaiting trial May 29 has developed a severe lung trouble and is in critical condition. Doctors say illness could interfere with the court case as she may be unable to attend. Her husband pleads for care as she spends most time in bed. A special physician attends her case under the county medical department. The illness traces to early imprisonment in San Antonio and is worsened by the arid climate and climate change to Texas. Prosecutor Hugh Dorsey plans to use The Constitution Portland correspondent El Blythe as a witness against the Inneses to refute assertions of alleged relations with Mrs Moise Dennis. Blythe located Innes during the Nelms disappearance and obtained his first statement. Dorsey aims to bring Blythe to Atlanta to verify that interview. Defense counsel have been unable to locate other witnesses. Mary Sinclair, Innes’s sister, conferred with Judge Hines and was accompanied by the 10-year-old boy said to be Innes’s wife’s child, visiting him in cell and aiding his lawyers.

Car Turns Turtle After Avoiding Boys Injures Five in Crash

Five men riding in a seven passenger auto owned by P. Byrd were hurt when the car swerved to avoid Negro boys playing in the Peach tree road area at 6:50 PM. One man, T. J. Lyon, is said to be fatally injured. others, including K Ward Smith and Sydney Hogarton, were treated at nearby hospitals or residences.
