Council Members Seek Abolition of City Boards in Charter Revision
General council members largely favor revising the city charter to abolish the present system of appointive boards running departments. Education and health boards are seen as necessary, but most other boards would be eliminated. The plan proposes a commission and representative government with two citywide committees, with suffragists likely to seek a voice in the new structure.
