Elbert County Youth Held in Murder Case
John McCalla, 21, of a prominent South Carolina family, is jailed in Elberton on murder charges for the death of a Black man named Hunter near Heardmont yesterday afternoon. An oncoming Seaboard Air Line train crew member, Engineer Cunningham, witnessed the incident as McCalla was restrained and the victim found near the tracks.
