The University of Georgia trustees discussed the four year high school level curriculum for Industrial and Agricultural Schools. Gov Terrell endorsed the plan. Joseph Stewart outlined a program balancing English and science with intensive agriculture and domestic science, including dormitory provisions, farm practice hours, and compensation for students.
A statewide plan advances as bids for new agricultural high schools will be opened in Atlanta on the 21st. Local district leaders in Morgan County praise the curriculum blending academics with shop work. Governors, farmers, and business men have contributed over 300000 dollars and lands to the effort, with plans for central college cooperation and farm demonstrations. Last night East Athens Baptist Church formally repealed its acceptance of R A Wright as a member after investigations showed the letter from Park Avenue Baptist Church in Norfolk Va was forged and Wright could not be located to offer a defense. The church learned the signer on the document was not the real clerk and no such man had belonged to that Norfolk church for years. Wright and his wife had moved to the city recently and were staying at a Foundry Street boarding house while investigators pursued the claim. The church voted to rescind the membership action and Wright could not be reached for a statement.
The Board of Trustees held a full session and offered little press information. Dr. A M Soule of Blackburg is believed chosen as dean and considering acceptance. Soule spoke to trustees and praised the department's progress while Georgia’s board secured an annual 15000 dollar maintenance appropriation after July 1.
The Banner reports an April inspection of the Athens Guards by Inspector General Obear. Capt. Capps has developed a strong unit noted as one of the best in the state. Efforts focus on public drills to engage citizens, with prizes proposed for top drilled members to boost membership and readiness. May strengthen community pride in the company.
