Prize puzzle offers rewards for correct dot counts

Judges Named to Decide Contest Awards in Athens

The three judges J. F. Rhodes mayor of Athens A H Davison and W F Dorsey will decide the contest results and their written decision shall be final and binding. They will certify the official count to be made by Mr Colburn and prize money will be paid out on their order to the winners you determined by them.

Prize Payments Authorized in T Banner Dot Contest

The Athens Savings Bank receives fifty dollars on July 17 1902 for prize distribution to winners of T Banner's Dot Contest. Vouchers must be certified by judges J F Rhodes A H Davison and W F Dorsey.

Chancellor Hill and Mr Peek clash over Georgia agriculture

The State Agricultural Society met in Macon and heard Hon. W L Peek attack the University of Georgia's agricultural department while Chancellor Hill defended it. Peek urged separating the Agricultural and Mechanical College from Franklin College and shifting land scrip and Morrill funds to support an independent system with Griffin Experiment Station as the hub. He called for a committee of eleven to push a legislative petition to create standalone colleges and stations and warned the fight would continue.

Chancellor Hill Wins Out At Georgia University Meeting

Chancellor Hill of the University of Georgia spoke at yesterday's meeting and outlined plans to improve the agricultural department and experiment farm under Mr Peek's resolution. He urged the State Agricultural Society to refrain from interfering with the university's work. A vote defeated Mr Pook's resolution 25 to 11, endorsing the university's efforts.

Disappearance of Asa J. Booth Located in Walton County

The Banner reports that Asa J. Booth was found near the India post office in Walton County. A traveler from Athena saw him last Monday at James Dillard's home, where Booth had been staying and was in good health and content.

Seaboard Official Tours Athens on Roadbed Upgrades

Mr E Berkley superintendent of the Third Division of the Seaboard Air Line Railway spent hours in Athens on a personal inspection tour of the Atlanta to Monroe line with Road master J Landram. The inspector noted vast improvements and substantial expenditure on ballast and roadbed work along the route.
