Royal Blue Flyer Ditching Tragedy at Leesburg
The Baltimore and Ohio Royal Blue Flyer crashed into an open switch at Leesburg near Athens, killing engineer Philip Ree and fireman Charles Studer, injuring about sixty passengers including Mrs Sewers of Wellston. The crash occurred around 8 pm as the train, headed to Athens, derailed and collided with a grain elevator.

During the Forepaugh and Sells parade day a thief entered the H. and H. Laundry office and stole thirty dollars from the money drawer. Proprieties and employees had briefly left the office unattended as the parade passed by, giving the burglar opportunity to escape.
Robbery Through Side Door Breaks Frail Lock
A theft occurred after entry through a side door to the money drawer, which was broken by a single kick. The chief left by the front door after defeating the edring lock. Most stolen money was small sums and four cents remained in the drawer. A check for 20.45 was not taken. The money had just been turned in by W. S. Southerton and a sum had recently been deposited in the bank.

Wednesday morning around 9 30 o clock Carrie North and her sister were walking from Nelonville toward Bachitel on the new road when a masked man sprang from brush fatally cocked a revolver at North and seized her purse containing 250 to 100 dollars. The thief fled into the brush after the incident was reported to Officer Warner.
