Woman Dr. Fry Injured When Wagon Dumps From Bridge
Broadwell Sept 29 A horse frightened by wheels left on Marietta Run bridge caused the railing to fail and the buggy to topple over. Dr Geneva Fry suffered a punctured ankle and bruises while Mr Fry had a facial cut. The aging bridge has been condemned multiple times and should have been replaced two years ago.

Desperadoes Routed in Luhrig Company Store Battle
In Luhrig on Sept 27 a rough house at the company store ended with George Phillips shot in the leg and Howard Phillips fleeing. Employees armed with revolvers and shotguns drove the pair from the building after a hand to hand clash that damaged furniture and sparked a wild escape into the woods. The Phillips brothers, recent arrivals linked to mining, were alleged outlaws from Indian Territory and West Virginia, with prior penitentiary affiliations. Church Ladies Land Stand Raises Funds At Corner Event
The Preabsterian church women hosted a land stand at the corner of Court and State and collected 83.50 with 3.50 from another booth. The Pare Locreo lunch stand drew larger crowds as the workers showed professional zeal and gratitude for generous patronage.
