Nine regulars bound over for Athens shooting case
The trial of nine regulars from the 14th battery opened in Athens before Mayor Logan over the shooting death of Corporal Clark. Witnesses including Calligan Gaydos and Thaler testified. Pierson was named as the shooter. Forty three witnesses were notified, many released as witnesses, and bonds set at 3000 dollars for the accused. Grace Clark, sister of Corporal Clark, attended and praised the prosecutors while noting family hardship.

Death of Effie Munn Near Clark's Chapel
Miss Effie Munn died Monday morning at her home near Clark's Chapel of tuberculosis after an illness beginning in April with pneumonia that led to consumption. The funeral was held at Clark's Chapel Wednesday morning.

Death of Mrs. Kate Golden in Athens Ohio
Mrs. Kate K. Golden died at Judiah Higgins residence on West State street at ten o clock Wednesday morning from stomach cancer. She was 74, born in Athens, married in 1852 to W Reed Golden and mother of five, two of whom predeceased. Surviving relatives include daughters Mrs. Frank Ballard Indianapolis and Mrs. Frank Fish Boston and son Nelson Golden professor in a Pennsylvania college. Funeral arrangements not yet announced.

Aged Pioneer Julia Coe Dorr Dies at 90
Julia Coe Dorr 90 longtime resident north of here died Wednesday night after a long illness. Born to Josiah and Mary Ann Coe descendants of Stratford Connecticut the family early settled around Athens. She married Mathew Dorr in 1885 and spent her life on local farms. Surviving are five children twenty two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her husband died in 1882. She was beloved in the Athens community.

Miller Injured in Flora Train Accident
J. A. Miller remains confined at home two weeks after a passenger wreck near Flora Illinois. He was returning from St Louis when a freight car derailment caused the passenger coaches to derail except the sleeper. He suffered body bruises but no known internal injuries. several others were hurt and no report has been released.

Blacksmith Shop Fire Suspected Arson at Seocoy Property
Fire discovered Sunday around three oclock at the rear of Charles Secoys blacksmith shop. Officials say the blaze began outside the building with hay and straw piled nearby. horses and tools were saved, and the total loss could not yet be estimated as more tools are recovered.
