Second annual Union fair draws crowd despite heat
Cunvur September 12. The second annual fair was held on the Union fair grounds with stock entries and stalls on Tuesday. Racing featured Black Silk, Crazy Ned, and Andy Edmondson in a three heat mile race, with Black Silk winning the final heat. Attendees enjoyed a merry-go-round, refreshment stands, corn popper displays, and a floral exhibit. A thief stole cash but was captured by Sheriff Porter. Conchees were excluded on moral grounds, then set up a tent nearby.

Runaway horse crash at State Hospital grounds injures man
On Tuesday morning at about 7:30 Mr Silas Hedges secretary for the Home Gas Company and his young son Elson were driving on the State Hospital grounds when the horse bolted after passing a white rock. The father shielded the boy as the buggy overturned injuring the man's wrist and hip but the boy escaped unharmed. The horse was restrained and brought to town.
