Nelsonville hosts fourth annual dog swim at Aquatic Center

Dogs of all sizes enjoyed the Nelsonville Aquatic Center event as organizers from Avalon Rescue and SEPTA partnered with the city. Golden retrievers McAfee and Rainier led the playful crowd in a sunny, splashy spectacle and residents praised the community gathering. Admission was five dollars per dog and spectators watched dogs dive, wade, and chase balls with many owners and dogs returning for a favorite summer tradition.

Tri County fashion marketing program gets a new look

Tri County Career Center updates the Fashion and Marketing Lab with storefront display windows and track lighting. Instructor Melissa Gee says the revamped program offers hands on store operations, including buying trips, inventory, and register sales. Last year’s profits reached about $14,000 with seniors using some proceeds for interview attire. See fashion on page A2.

Athens four team trike race raises funds for local heart program

Twenty six four person teams raced three wheeled trikes at Ohio Health O Bleness Hospital in Athens to raise money for local AEDs. Cardiologist Vipin Koshal created the event and redirected proceeds to a local heart fund benefiting area schools. The competition ended with The Pain Peddlers facing The Beta Blockers in a playful relay finale.
