International CWA Rejects Contract Pact
The International Communications Workers of America rejected a secret pact proposed between General Telephone Co. of Ohio and the state CWA ending a two month strike. The agreement would have provided a 175000 dollar wage boost and an agency shop but faced a last minute hitch over grievance procedures. Eight striking CWA members were fired for strike related vandalism and court actions proceed with contempt hearings scheduled for Sept 20.
