Ministers from Athens Giouster and Nelsonville will exchange pulpits for Sunday services to promote temperance. Revs H A Roth Lloyd Evans O P and Rogers will speak at Nelsonville Glouster Athens churches with worship and evening programs. A student class and junior senior activities, home hour, and vesper events are also planned at Central Avenue Methodist and Presbyterian churches.
Church gatherings announced with a 2 PM sermon titled Though We Know It versus Edward Minor. Dinner will follow in the church hall as speakers discuss spiritual topics and church affairs.
A newly formed foundation linked to mills in Athens and Crooksville includes personnel such as Virginia, New Lexington, Harold Konvale, Clara Mae Freda Matthaes, Ruth, Harry Aldrich, Fred Kerber, Chester Light Smith, Natalie Kellar, and Fred Ries. The Rt. Rev. William P. Remington, missionary bishop of Eastern Oregon, will speak at the Women's Auxiliary meeting of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Athens on Tuesday October 31 at 2 30 PM. Bishop Hobson will introduce him, and both will conduct the service at Grace Church in Pomeroy that evening at 8 o'clock.
