In Toledo on October 26 a 26 year old stenographer Miss Edna Kingsley was fatally wounded when a youth identified as Donald J Elliott used her as a shield during a confrontation with city detectives. Detective John Mullen was wounded but the officer’s injuries were not serious. Elliott, said to be the robber who held up Clarence Sullivan on September 20, was captured after a gunfight that left Kingsley dead.
In Cleveland on October 26 a verdict was expected for C Stirling Smith former president of the bankrupt Standard Trust Bank and Dale T Winslow auditor charged with embezzling 19253.18 of bank funds. The trial had run a week before Common Pleas Judge Arthur H Day acting as judge and jury.
Harold Howell, Kroger butcher on West State Street, displayed three live ducks captured near his home on New Marshfield Road. He said thousands of wild ducks alighted near Athens Country Club after a long northward flight, making hunting unlikely today.
Harvey Russell aged 15 son of Mr and Mrs Bruce Russell Millfield suffered serious injuries when struck by a machine driven by a Gloucester man on a highway near Millfield He received a broken collar bone a head laceration and other injuries He was taken to a Millfield physician then transported by ambulance to Sheltering Arms Hospital Athens

Ford bids in Dearborn officials report low offers for army motorization equipment though Ford may be observing the automobile code terms.
The Graf Zeppelin arrived in Chicago after an 8000 mile Schenzhen trip from Friedrichshafen Germany for a World’s Fair visit. Dr Hugo Eckener, commander of the airship, was greeted by a guard of 250 soldiers and boarded a Curtiss Wright airport mast before a Chicago cruise and a return to Akron.
Ora Slater a Cincinnati detective has been hired to probe the kidnapping of Karl Roller a 22 year old Findlay College student taken from the campus two weeks ago. Roller was beaten bound and left on a country road found by farmer W M Warrell. College president Homer Dunathban expelled him for poor scholastic work despite the father's request to drop the case for the college's good name.
Work on the U S 8 Route 3 South and Route 7 junction near Coolville has resumed after a halt last summer when Kay Strawser Inc. became inactive. The bonding company now leads, hiring 125 men across two shifts to finish in about ten days. About 1125 workers who were unpaid last summer received checks today for full amounts due, only to those who filed claims with the State Highway Department. others must file claims to receive pay.
Ethel Pusster 45 pleaded guilty to murder after shooting a woman she found with her husband in their Portsmouth home. She was sentenced to an indeterminate term at Marysville Reformatory. The slain woman was Ermatrude McCoy. husband Gus Pusateri was wounded.
Nelsonville reports the Kimberly Mine resumed operation yesterday under the Valley Mining Company. About 260 men are employed, following six weeks of extensive repairs to tipple equipment at the colliery.

Washington October 6 news confirms the creation of the Compliance Division within the NRA. The new unit is backed by the justice department and the Federal Trade Commission to enforce codes and curb price gouging. Administrator Johnson will lead the division until a permanent director is appointed.
