Mrs Martha Scott died Tuesday evening after a long rheumatism illness. Born September 14 in Belmont county, she leaves three daughters Kate Lizzie Tillie and two sons Frank of Silo Iowa and Milton of Cincinnati. Funeral at the family residence on South Vine Street at two thirty this afternoon with Rev W A Powell and Rev G Walton King assisting.

Tuomen May 22 The coal company faces delays in completing its mine as a false vein was struck at the shaft site forcing entry through solid rock. Diamonds indicated eight feet of coal near the shaft, and officials expect paying coal once the entry is driven. Charles R. Foster Dies After Illness At Home
Charles R. Foster of Athens died Friday forenoon at his West Union street home after a short illness, following an appendicitis operation by Dr. Gilillan of Columbus. Born November 23, 1803, he was a skilled mechanic who built a large business on West Union street. He leaves a wife, three children, and a brother Hull Foster. Funeral services were held Sunday at his home, conducted by Rev. L. Haddox, with interment in the new cemetery. Pallbearers were F. H. Logan, B. Walker, H. S. Haney, Andrew Tewkaherry, G. H. Peters, and D. W. Peuples.

Man Killed in Scotorville Bicycle Crash
Emory L. Barrows of Coolville died after being struck by a bicycle ridden by Noah Johnson in Scioto county near Portmouth. Barrows, a 45 year old stone mason, was knocked 15 feet, skull fractured, died next morning. Johnson arrested for manslaughter.
