Memorial services were held Sunday morning by the G A R at St Pauls Catholic church with W R and Spanish American War veterans participating. Procession formed at Washington and Court streets, escorted by young ladies, and prayers and a lengthy Civil War address by Father J B followed. The church was decorated with flags palms ferns carnations and geraniums. The choir offered suitable sacred music throughout.

Fisherman Drowns After Capsized Boat on Hocking River
William Grinson a miner from Luhrig aged about 60 drowned Sunday afternoon in the Hocking river below Herrold's dam after a tub boat capsized while he and Ed Verity fished drunk. Rescue efforts with grappling hooks and dynamite failed until Monday morning when Grinson was hauled to shore a few feet from where he sank. Interment followed in Marshfield after burial services at W A Hibbard.

Death of Mrs John Walsh at 58 after long illness near Athens
Mrs John Walsh died early Monday at her home four miles south of Athens after an eighteen month illness. She lived in the area most of her life, aged 58, survived by her husband and four daughters. Funeral services were held at 9 AM in St Paul’s Catholic church conducted by Father J B Mattingly, with burial in the Catholic cemetery.
