Luhrig Strike Settled After Rent Dispute
Miners at Luhrig, May 18, end a weeks long walkout over a work scale and rent increases. A arbitration set rent at $2.00 per month for company houses, with compensation for dead work, and workers return to post strike duties. About seven hundred miners are affected and wage losses reached at least $25,000 for the period. The mines lie along the Baltimore & Ohio line between Cincinnati and Parkersburg and summer work is expected to continue.

Ankle Break on State Hospital Grounds Crash
Miss Dora Baird of Rushville broke her left ankle Sunday after a drive with Miss Minnie Doty Pearl Rhodes of Athens and Nathan Booth of Columbus. They tried to check two horses on the state hospital hill. a neck yoke broke, the carriage overturned, all riders were thrown down the embankment with Miss Baird suffering the injury and others only bruised. She was taken to Mrs Mae Rhodes’s home to recover before returning home.

Nelsonville May 19 The sudden disappearance of William Dusz a well known liveryman here has caused widespread concern as creditors claim more than four thousand dollars in unpaid debts His whereabouts are unknown and friends believe he fled to weather the debt storm and may return after creditors are satisfied He previously ran a store in Jacksonville and once sought the Republican nomination for clerk of courts.

Trio Arrested for Resisting Officer in Athens
George Baker Hamley Rup and Letitia Giles were charged with resisting an officer. They were bound over to the grand jury with bonds set at 200 dollars each, unable to post bail, and jailed to await the next grand jury session.
