Vinton County to Close Children Home
Vinton County will discontinue the operation of its Children Home after the current school term. Wards will be housed in foster homes with six of seven children from one family moving to a Veterans Administration facility in Xenia and the remaining 18 year old placed locally. The home has cost 18 000 to 20 000 annually, not funded by state or federal funds. Negotiations seek a convalescent center or nursing home in the building to create income. Some land may become industrial use.
