General Outlook for Ohio Crops Favorable
The Columbus district reports a highly favorable week for crops through May 21. Wheat, oats, rye and pastures grew well though rye headed in lake counties and wheat neared heading in Highland. Flooding damaged some wheat and oats in the lower Secloto valley. Corn planting lagged early due to wet ground but progressed later. Gardens and apples look promising, fruits improving, but berries and grapes suffered frost damage earlier. Overall, the outlook is decidedly optimistic.
