I D R To Give Opinion Today On Silver Bloc
Washington May and President Roosevelt faces silver legislation amid silver bloc optimism. After a Saturday conference with silver leaders he will study the matter over the weekend and reveal his opinion today. The Thomas amendment to the Glass bill would back currency with 70 percent gold and 30 percent silver and set a domestic silver price ceiling. It would nationalize silver at a capped price and permit foreign buyers to purchase American goods with silver at a premium. Senator Thomas voiced hope the President would accept the program.
