A divorce for Theodocia Burdette against Monroe Burdette was granted on adultery grounds and the plaintiff restored to her maiden name. Nora Kyle received a divorce from John Kyle as he is a life prisoner in Moundsville. A $10,000 judgment was awarded to Midland Oil Co. against California Consolidated Oil Co with an order for sale of property.

Banquet Honors Delta Tau Delta Betas at Hotel Berry
The Beta chapter Delta Tau Delta hosted a Friday banquet for lady friends and local alumni at Hotel Berry. Fifty guests attended as Selby’s Orchestra played. Toasts followed with F. W. Bush as toastmaster and Prof. D. J. Evans speaking on Deltaism a generation ago.

Amputation Death Tells Tragic Aftermath in Nelsonville
Eva Nutter died in Nelsonville after arm amputation following a gunshot by J W Smith owner of Primrose Hotel. She had appeared recovering but developed paralysis from the wound and died after surgery at Columbus hospital. Smith bore all expenses and remains distraught over the incident.

Death of Ray Magoon Traced to Stewart Area
Ray Magoon, once living near Stewart, is found to have been a resident of Athens County. He was eighteen when he left Athens July 17 1901 during Buffalo Bill’s show visit, disappeared after the performance, and died later reported at Scottdale. The Magoon family originated in Malone New York.

Mansfield Man Falls Dead on Railroad Track
Clem Mansfield aged 34 died early Saturday while walking to his job at the Rardin scales. He had longtime health issues including goiter and heart trouble, with death due to heart failure. Survived by a wife, a daughter about three, plus sisters and brothers. Funeral held Monday at the Methodist church, interment in the new cemetery.

Snipe Hunters Hunted in Athens Mirthful Prank
A group of six young men lured Hart Thompson into a snipe hunting expedition near Mineral Springs three miles from Athens. Thompson, a former Philippines soldier, outwitted his peers by rushing to Athens, arriving twenty minutes ahead while his pranksters trudged back muddy and tired. Death of John Varley Athens Resident Dies at Home
John Varley, among Athens oldest residents, died Tuesday afternoon at his West State street home from complications of old age. Born in Ireland in 1834, he moved to America as a young man, worked on railroads in Marietta, then Athens. He served as B&O and Hocking Valley section boss before retiring years ago.

The two and a half year old Carl Carsey died Tuesday evening at his home on North High street from scarlet fever. The remains were taken to Jerseyville yesterday for burial.
