Mrs Thaw Strengthens Son's Defense In Thaw Case

New York March 7 Attorneys paused as court delayed by a death in Justice Fitzgeralds family. Mrs William Thaw testified briefly breaking down twice while describing her sons changed behavior after his Paris trip in 1903 and Evelyn Nesbits life story. She spoke of a mothers concern and of her consent to the marriage with conditions. The cross examination touched on allowance income and her knowledge of her sons relations. Thaws lawyers plan two more witnesses including Drs Hammond and Jelliffe to answer a new hypothetical covering the case.

Ex Representative Grosvenor bids farewell to Congress

Washington March 6 Ex Representative Grosvenor of Ohio says he will return to his law practice and does not want a government job He won a public building bill for Athens priced at 100000 as he leaves the House The piece notes Athens growth and hints Grosvenor may return to politics next year and challenges to Albert Douglass.

Masquerade Party Hosted for Mrs Williams at Palmer Street

Mrs W D Shafer hosted a masquerade night at her Palmer street home on Wednesday. The event honored Mrs G F Williams of Nelsonville. Guests made napkin doll projects with potato snacks. Elva Wadley won first prize and Jacob Sherman took the consolation pumpkin. A two course luncheon ended the evening.

Rossetter Brothers Buy South Court Meat Market

L. T. Rossetter & Co. purchased the meat market on South Court Street opposite Charles Beasley’s monument and will continue the business with a full stock of fresh and salt meats. The firm, formerly at the old Market House, is known for fair dealing and good service. Mr. Rossetter will manage personally.

Mrs Daugherty and son to join husband in Plain City

Mrs. Fred Daugherty and her young son left this morning to join her husband in Plain City where he moved earlier in the week. They plan to make their home there.

Little Girl Bitten by Dog in Broad Daylight

Ten year old Maycle Patterson was bitten on the right hip by a large dog owned by Thomas Olliver on Central avenue while en route to school. Police were notified. Officer Van Horn arrived with a shotgun and allowed locals to kill the animal. Elias Dunfee fired a shot that killed the dog and was tasked with burial duties.

Strother brothers found not guilty in Bywaters killing

Culpepper Va March 7 after about ninety minutes the jury returned a verdict of not guilty in the trial of the Strother brothers for the killing of William Bywaters.

Hendersons Plan Mexican and Californian Tour

Mr C B Henderson sails Wednesday to join Hon C L Kurtz in Columbus for a few weeks in the Mexican gold mining district. They will then proceed to Tuscon Arizona to meet Mrs Kurtz and Mrs Henderson and continue an extended tour of California.

Train Collision Injures Passengers Near Freight Depot

A rear end collision Thursday around 11:30 between an extra west bound freight and a local baggage coach injured several passengers but none seriously. The crash damaged the coach and engine fender while Conductor Williams and Engineer Hall cited air brake failure. Injured include Otto Mussulman Lee Davis Charles Prixley and Dr E Secoy who were treated at the depot and permitted to continue travel.

Mullen Brother Dies of Tuberculosis at 26

Leo Mullen aged 26 son of Mr and Mrs Martin Mullen of Mineral died at his home from tuberculosis after returning from work as a B&O brakeman. He was brother to engineers John and James Mullen both killed in railroad incidents and cousin to Mrs Frank Schloss of Franklin Avenue. Funeral at St Pauls church at 9 am Saturday with Rev Father J B Banahan and burial in Catholic cemetery on Lancaster Street.

Thomas Gets Verdict In Local Labor Suit

James Thomas sued The Sunday Creek company in common pleas court over about 26 for work performed. The jury found in favor of the defendant and awarded Thomas 12.62 after deliberation from Wednesday morning until about four in the afternoon. Attorney L A Koons represented Thomas while Grosvenor Jones Worstell defended the company.

Retirement Tribute Marks Grosvenor’s House Farewell

Brakeman Injured While Coupling Train at Canaanville

Fred Snyder of Chillicothe a brakeman on freight No 73 was injured Thursday morning while coupling air brakes at Canaanville. A deep three inch gash appeared on the right side of his face and he was taken to Smith hotel for treatment in this city.
