Drowning of Otto Barth in Rescue Attempt
Otto Barth proprietor of the Barth Flouring Mills was drowned about 7 30 AM while aiding in a rescue on a flooded river. He and Carl Hibbard tried to reach the Dana home by rowboat using a rope tethered to the home. a chain failed causing the boat to capsize and Barth to be swept away. His wife witnessed the tragedy.
