Chicago June 30 A federal labor board hearing could avert a walkout by 690000 railroad shop workers slated to strike at 10 am Saturday July 1 if unions yield on wage cuts while railroads concede on contracting out shop work. Officials anticipate a settlement may promise wage increases when warranted.

Hamburg June 30 A plot for wholesale assassination of Jews in Germany has been unearthed by the arrest of Naval Commander Warnecke. Papers show him as a member of The Murder Exploding Detachment and name 12 targets including Dr. Walter Rathenau Theodore Wolff and Max Warburg. Warburg warned against speaking last Saturday amid suspected anti Jewish action.

He lost his right arm in an accident at Firestone in Akron and, after surgery, will return home with work arranged by Firestone. The Bank of Athens pays a customary five percent bonus to all employees. The bonus equals that percentage of each worker’s annual salary for the year.

They claim carriers complied with the interstate commerce commission general freight rate cut of about 10 percent but favored West Virginia and Kentucky operators with larger reductions.

Irish free state troops seized the headquarters of republican irregulars in Ballyshannon and Inishowen, capturing 20 prisoners in a June operation. The raid targeted rebel strongholds as authorities reported the arrests and ongoing cleanup of the area.
