Dublin dispatch reports Irish rebels have mounted machine guns on rooftops near the Four Courts and fire occasional volleys. The fighting is described as intense with women joining the fray and a battle expected to continue for several days.
Chicago June 29 Rail unions begin strike preparation after a call from the AFL Railway Employes' Department fixing 10 o'clock Saturday as the start time. Executives of major railroads meet to address the wage cut orders from the labor board while factions within the board clash over the policy.
Firing breaks out in Dame Street as rebels and Irish free state troops renew fighting near the shell wrecked Four Courts. Irregulars’ strongholds face artillery fire. Colonel Maundenville and Captain Vaughton were fatally wounded. Countess Markiewicz takes command of communist headquarters in Georges Street.
F W Gibson of Amesville reports to the state department of agriculture that corn is small but looks well. Some farmers finished planting while a little wheat was cut. Potatoes look fine and weather was favorable for farm work with mean temperature near normal and several cool nights. One very hot day occurred during the week.
Fragmentary returns from the statewide primary indicate Senator Porteres McCumber may be renominated as the Republican senatorial candidate. With under 100 of 2064 precincts reporting, McCumber led Lynn J. Frazier by about 4000 votes. Frazier, backed by the Non Partisan League, questions the outcome while McCumber enjoys the regular Republican backing. Nestos leads Baker for the GOP gubernatorial nomination.
General Electric broadcasting station WGY in Schenectady New York will air concert programs at 745 PM EST on July 6 and 7 and at 1030 PM on July 7. Stock market quotes produce market reports news bulletins and baseball results will be announced at 6 PM each night except Tuesday Saturday and Sunday. WGY uses a 360 meter wavelength.
Frank Cosley walked on the Superior Avenue viaduct when stairs collapsed. He fell sixty feet, landed in a 2300 volt cable net, then clung to 600 volt lines after a fall. Power was shut off, rescuers lowered him to the ground. He escaped with only scratches.

Medina July 29 report says county commissioners granted Mrs Madonns Nye McNally $200 for a land strip required to straighten a road south of town on the Chippewa Lake road. She sought $6,000. land assessed at $600. McNally has given notice of an appeal.
Miss Inez Phang, who recently graduated with honors from New York University, aims for a long career in business and politics in China supported by her parents. Born on the island of Jamaica, she is described as a demure Chinese girl with strong family backing.
The fourth federal district savings division announces an inter-county sales contest between Athens county and Miami county postmasters to run for three months starting July 1. Forty four such contests will operate statewide and be decided on a per capita basis.
Miss Carrie Barnhardt of Canton drove a large touring car toward her Canton road home when it wrecked near Akron at 6 A M injuring Barnhardt and two Canton employees Mrs Catherine Gensley 30 and Miss Naomi Schul 20 They were taken to the city hospital.
Alex M. Moore, proprietor of Square Deal, failed to obtain a temporary restraining order against Athens city ordinance banning fireworks. Judge Worstell ruled the ordinance valid and effective. A final hearing for a permanent injunction is not set until after the Fourth of July as he leaves for Los Angeles on a two week business trip.
The summer school census shows 32 denominations among students. Methodists lead with 845 members about 48 percent of 1765 card signers. 165 students did not fill census cards. Names sent to pastors. special classes planned. vesper services scheduled. Y M C A and Y W C A coordinate Friday services with campus leaders speaking.

John Harrington of Pittsburgh died in a Cleveland hospital from gunshot wounds after a running battle with Patrolman Gus Wild and Detective Appleton. Harrington allegedly shot Ray Evans at his home moments earlier. When ordered to halt, Harrington fired, and Wild returned fire, striking him.
Francis KE Perry, 28, shot and killed his bride of one year at Richmond early today and then shot himself. He died later at Memorial hospital after uttering a plea to see his dying wife.
