Lake Alma State Park hosts the 20th Lake Alma Beach Party on Saturday July 9 moved from August with events across two beaches. Activities include Beach Baby Toddler contests cherish prizes Chinese auction treasure hunt baton show a water rescue demonstration live music by Chip Allman and the Gravel Road Band a pet show and pageants Little Miss Lake Alma Junior Miss Lake Alma and Miss Lake Alma. All proceeds benefit the Friends of Lake Alma supporting state park activities and projects.

Ohio BMW to accept credit cards for driver fees

SEPTA inmate who walked off job site is captured in Rushville
Rodney Landis, 34, of Lancaster, a SEPTA inmate under community control for heroin possession, was arrested Monday night on Market Street in Rushville after a trailor park tip. He reportedly left the Southeastern Ohio Foodbank shift June 13 with three others and was later charged with escape.

Giraffe Dies at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo from Urinary Illness
A 9 year old giraffe at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo died from an acute untreatable urinary condition. Officials say the remaining four giraffes are healthy and exhibit is open. Zoo spokesman Rick Haase notes giraffes often show no health signs until it's too late for treatment. World Animal Foundation states giraffes live about 25 years in the wild and 28 years in captivity.
