City Council Eyes Pay Hike and Tax Shakeup
City employees look to a 10 percent pay raise effective Tuesday under suspended rules, with final reading at 5 pm. The measure would cost about $70,000 on a $770,000 payroll and excludes elected officials and part timers. Also up are income tax amendments to shift receipts toward the general fund and two new ordinances for recreation salaries and holiday decorations funds. Logan Reservoir Plans Ready By September
Army Corps of Engineers will publicize by late September recommendations for the Logan Reservoir on Clear Creek with aims of congressional approval early in 1970. The plan, a multi purpose project including flood control water supply recreation and conservation, faces opposition from conservationists and property owners over land to be flooded. The project would create a lake near the confluence of Clear Creek and the Ohio River valley with a 350 acre recreation and nature preserve and would be studied under new Appalachian regional guidelines.
