Athens County Paving Crews Complete Jobs

Athens County paving crews wrapped up multiple projects this week under county engineer Gerald Hann. Crews from Fir Brewer Construction repaired culverts on County Road 1 New Marsh Field and replaced an abutment on County Road 48 near New England, while culverts on County Road 17 south of Fisher Road were replaced after collapse. Long View Heights road surface improvements continue as traffic rises from the Mill Street bridge closure. Huskings Road, repaved earlier after winter damage, remains a heavily used access route. About 150 tons of cold mix have been spread on county roads, with patching and seal coats planned on other surfaces. Guard rails are being erected on several bridges. Some mowing programs have slowed due to equipment breakdowns and dangerous project sites.
