He was born April 29 1854 in Athens Township to David and Mary Jane Allen and never married. Gasoline Blast Kills Girl Eight in Gallipolis
Eight year old Odetta Mae Burns died after a gasoline explosion in a Gallipolis home. Her sister Frances Burns, seven, was burned on the legs while Paul Valentine, eighteen, suffered burns to hands as the flames were put out with rugs and blankets. The accident occurred while the girls and their mother Ethel Burns cleaned a bathroom tub with gasoline. Odetta died Monday night in a Parkersburg hospital. Funeral services held at Epworth M. E. Church were conducted by Rev. George Sagan.
