Muskogee Oklahoma June 14 C. N. Nunn a democratic candidate for president of the State Board of Agriculture died in a hospital from wounds inflicted by two gunmen. Nunn was abducted after being shot twice and held for a 50 mile dash before being tied to a tree and robbed in Porter Oklahoma.
Carl Lauderbach, found guilty last week of assault and battery for shooting Alfred Brown, was sentenced to 30 days in Athens County Jail and fined $50 and costs by Judge O F Rowland. He was committed to County Jail to serve until the fine and costs were paid.
Funeral services are set for Marlene Dinsmore, three weeks old, at the Dinsmore home in New Marshfield. Burial will follow in Marshfield Cemetery with Rev. Miles Hoon officiating. Surviving are the parents Rolland and —, and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Guy Dinsmore and James Jackson.

William H. Sprentz, 65, a former Logan merchant, died Tuesday afternoon after a diabetes illness. Funeral services are set for 3 p.m. Friday at his residence, conducted by Rev. Ralph C. Babylon of the Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Oak Grove. He is survived by his wife Charlotte Sprentz a daughter Louise and a sister Mrs. Mamie Rochester.
Cumberland Maryland June 14 Clifton Paul Henry was to graduate from Allegany High School when a motorcycle crash Tuesday claimed his life. His funeral will be held Friday. Henry was instantly killed, authorities said.
Pittsburgh June 14 AP Delegates from the Amalgamated Association of Iron Steel and Tin Workers say only government intervention can stop a nationwide steel strike. About 200 delegates from across the country met as James Dewey, special conciliator, attended but not likely to be heard. President Tighe warned a vote for a strike could come if operators do not grant formal recognition to the union.
Senate Republicans at a party conference voiced discontent with nearly all provisions of the administration's new labor bill and named a subcommittee to draft amendments.
LOGAN June 14 The Hocking Valley Brick Plant will resume operations Monday after 18 months of idleness. Porty-five workers will be called back Monday and in three weeks the capacity force of 110 will be employed. The plant has two contracts and expects to secure others shortly. Former employees will be given preference in re hiring, officials said.
Two Flag Day observances were scheduled for Athena today. At the West State Street Cemetery the Eliza Davidson memorial was to be dedicated at 2 p m with Atty J E Bowman of Columbus as speaker. Tonight at 7 30 the Athens Elks Lodge will host a program before City Hall with Clarence J Brown as speaker. The American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps would perform at 7. Flags lined Court Street and many homes displayed the flag.
Frank Chapman of Coolville paid a $10 fine after pleading guilty in Magistrate Carl H. Porter’s court to reckless driving. The charges were filed by State Patrolman F. B. Bollig.
