Nelsonville man gets four years for injuring infant son
Nathan T. Pyke, 25, pleaded guilty to felonious assault and endangering children in Athens County Common Pleas Court. He admitted causing rib fractures and other injuries to his newborn son born April 30, 2015 during two night incidents between May and July 2015. The case was investigated by the sheriff and Athens County Children Services after reports of abuse and bruising on a five month old.

Nelsonville York appoints Dalton athletic director and Dettwiller at elementary
Nelsonville York Board of Education approved Amanda Dalton as the new director of athletics on a supplemental one year contract of 17 500 and Nick Dettwiller as the elementary school assistant principal by a 4 to 0 vote. Dalton previously led the girls basketball program and has served as interim athletics director for about three months. The board also authorized construction contracts with Heiberger Paving for track resurfacing at Boston Field and Champions Green for playground turf. Work starts June 20 to minimize disruption ahead of the 2016 17 school year.
