Sylvia Newton Dies After Operation

Nelsonville, June 6 Mrs. Sylvia Newton 51 wife of Herbert Newton died Saturday night at White Cross Hospital Columbus after a surgical operation. Funeral services led by Rev. John J. Scott will be at the family home 872 Poplar Street Tuesday at 2 pm. Burial at Greenlawn. She leaves husband two sons Lawrence and Donald a daughter Mabel a sister Mrs Lena Snowden and a brother John Parry all of Nelsonville.

Logan Men Saved By Woman’s Act at Buckeye Lake

At Buckeye Lake last week three Logan men Edward McGonagie C EK Appieman and Carl Blosser were stranded on an anchored raft as a storm broke the line. Mrs. Claude Hammond who was staying with Mr and Mrs Ford Hack at Lake Ride cottage spotted the danger and braved rain and wind to lash a rope to the raft and secure it to the pier, saving the trio.
