Pioneer Stewart Dies After Lifelong Ohio Development
Daniel B. Stewart of Athens born 1912 died Wednesday at his College Street home at 5:30. A county commissioner and early settler, he built mills and stores along the Hocking river and helped found Stewart town. He aided railroads, led Know-Nothing and Republican activism, and voted for Lincoln and Blaine along a long political record. Funeral Friday at 4 p.m. at Union Church with Rev. Thomas and Rev. Cherrington. interment in the new cemetery.

The Athens county clerk reports 1902 statistics for the common pleas court. Divorces filed totaled 38 with 29 granted. civil judgments reached 127 with $32729.65 adjudicated. Felonies and misdemeanors totaled 22 and 24 respectively with various penalties.

Kill Eagle Tribe Camp Hosts Visitors at Nelsonville Memorial
Cannonville July 21 About thirty members of Kill Eagle Tribe No 170 of Nelsonville have camped here for two weeks. The Red Men from Nelsonville formed a music group and about seventy five visitors from different tribes dined. Memorial services were held at the grave of Fred Burch Mohawk Tribe No 174 with remarks by a member of ER Eagle and Jan A. Miller. The camp will continue for at least two weeks and all Red Men are welcome.
