Charles Ayers driver for Buckeye grocery was injured Friday afternoon at Luhrig when his wagon tipped on a hillside. He broke both bones of his left leg above the ankle. Horse and wagon were damaged. Drs Merwin and White set the broken bones and Ayers was taken home in Athens by Mr. McCoy.

A fire on the south side of the yellow pine shed at Athens Lumber Company was spotted around 1 pm Tuesday. Firemen arrived after a freight engine likely sent a spark to shavings under the platform. Three or four boards burned but the pine lumber remained intact worth about 2000 dollars. early detection prevented total loss.

Man Thrown Under Train Near West Athens
Milton Bell of Luhrig fell while attempting to board freight train number 37 at the I and ML station in West Athens. Drunk pair jailed after West Union street incident
On West Union street two intoxicated individuals O M Whitaker and Bess Clay failed to locate a telegraph office and misdirected steps at Dr Super's residence. Policeman Woodruff intervened, jailed them, and they were arraigned before Mayor Logan with fines and costs totaling 17.80. They reportedly lived together in Columbus for three weeks and planned to travel to Charleston West Virginia where their homes are said to be.

Joseph Ray Jones a junior at Ohio University and widely known in Athens died Thursday morning in Cleveland from appendicitis. His funeral was held Saturday at the Presbyterian church in Jackson. The 20 year old Beta Pi Beta Kappa member left Athens June 19 for Cleveland and later visited Chautauqua before his sudden death.

Masons Confer Masters Degree at Trimble Lodge
About twenty masons from Paramythia Lodge No 25 went to Trimble Monday night and conferred the masters degree on three candidates. The Trimble lodge offered an elegant lunch in appreciation.
