A rear end collision occurred between Hocking Valley passenger No. 33 and Ohio Central freight No. 6 about 7:35 a.m. one mile below Channelery, Athens. Engineer Weller and fireman Dickey leaped clear. several passengers were injured. Names include John Weller, L. D. Wilson, Myrtle Reeves, Grace Junod, Jane Bailey. The crash damaged the caboose and two freight cars. heavy coaches prevented broader loss of life.

Johnston Appointed to State Insurance Clerkship in Columbus
Fred P. Johnston has been appointed to a new clerical post in the state Insurance department in Columbus. The position, created by the legislature last winter, carries a salary above 1200 dollars annually. From ten applicants in the county, Johnston won the post by lot over Maurice Bryson of Glenatur. Senator Moore, authorized to name the appointee by Insurance Commissioner Vorys, announced Johnston’s selection. Johnston, a Trimble native and recent University graduate, was private secretary to President Ellis last year. He leaves for Columbus Tuesday to assume duties.
