Bel mott Oil and Gas Company president M J Timblin of Moundsville W Va died after a block struck his left ankle during casing drawing at Sheldon well Strands Run Athens. Amputation followed and he died Monday after a rapid deterioration in heart action. Wife and brother arrived before his death. funeral held in Moundsville after arrival of the body.

Jim Miller a Cleveland man posing as a typewriter repairer was arrested after stealing H G Stalder’s typewriter. He claimed to be a repairman and tried to sell the machine for a low price at W B Lawrence’s office. He admitted morphine use and was found to be a chronic addict. He had claimed patronage by Senator Hanna and Mayor Johnson.

The Ohio University commencement ended with a reception at President Alston Ellis's home. Trustees adjourned to August after long talks. A new Normal school building plan was corrected and sized for a cost not to exceed 15000 dollars. Faculty salaries were raised across the board and new hires included El Moore. The university approved affiliations with Cincinnati College of Dental Surgery and Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. Doctor of Divinity was awarded to Rev Elmer A Pent and LD D to Dr A B Richardson.

Athenian lodge Knights of Pythias and Rathbone Sisters held memorial services Sunday. The procession started at 9:30 from the lodge, moved to the Christian church for a sermon by Roy T. Lowe, and continued at 3:30 to cemeteries with services at both new and old burial grounds led by the Athens Concert band and Maj. F. E. Goldberry. Hon. E. D. Sayre delivered a half hour address emphasizing patriotism and fraternal sentiment.

The horse became frightened and anmanages tle, however, Mr. Johnson maintained his position in the bogey until on turning at the fork of the road, a short distance from where the horse became frightened, the buggy stroc's the end of one of several saw Logs which had been left lying by hhe rode side. A physician was immediately sum moned, who, after a close examination found that two ribs, the lower jaw bone and the right molar bone were broken. Although he is in very critical condition It is thought that he will recover.

Mrs Sarah Wallace, age 77, died Saturday at Athens State Hospital where she had been an inmate. A Dover township resident, her remains were taken to Chauncey where funeral services were held Monday. Interment followed at Nye Cemetery.
