Republican Congressional Nomination Convention Notice

To the Republicans of the Fifteenth District of Ohio a convention to nominate a candidate for Congress will be held at City Hall Marietta on Tuesday July 13 1886 at 11 am Representation bases votes for Governor Foraker 1885 one vote per hundred and fractions over fifty. Counties named Athens Meigs Monroe Morgan Washington total county quotas listed delegates to be chosen by each county. J P Wood Athens county Cong. Republican delegate convention and primary in Athens county

The Republican voters of Athens county are notified of a delegate convention at City Hall Athens Ohio on July 12 1886 at 11 a m to elect eight delegates eight alternates and delegates to state and congressional conventions. A primary election will be held July 10 1886 to nominate auditors commissioners and infirmary director plus central committee members.

Margaret Hunt McAdams died at her Marshfield Ohio home June 22 1886 of diphtheria at age 85 years 2 months 2 days She had lived in Athens county over thirty five years Funeral services were led by Rev R C Harper at Marshfield M E Chapel two days later on June 24

Devoted Early Ohio Settler Elizabeth Francis Dies at 85

Elizabeth Francis born May 24 1801 in Barnstable Massachusetts died June 11 1886 in Athens Ohio at age 85 after a life of faith and resilience. She married twice first to C Gray then Thomas Francis and endured hardship including abandonment and the Hocking River bridge era. She leaves four sons and four daughters among numerous relatives and friends. Ann Eliza Knowles born April 18 1829 in Athens County died January 19 190? after long service to the M E Church and Cumberland Presbyterian church, suffering paralysis and a final peaceful death as a faithful follower of Jesus. Funeral rites were held at the family home with burial in the new cemetery.
