Million Volt Feasibility Study Amid Global Power Push
A joint research program by American Power System and ASEA of Sweden tests the technical and economic feasibility of AC transmission at 1 million volts and above. Appalachian Power Co and Ohio Brass will play major roles at Wadsworth Ohio center under AEP supervision. The project aims to develop new equipment for ultra high voltage and follows AEP’s history with 345 000 volt and upcoming 765 000 volt line energization set for about two months.
