Senator Plans Measure To Prohibit Swimming Fees

State Senator Ronald Mottle of Parma announced plans to introduce a measure in the Ohio Senate to ban fees for swimming at state park lakes and beaches. The Parks Division recently set 50 cents for ages over 16 and 25 cents for children with under six admitted free. He suggested a resolution to urge rescinding the fee or a bill to strip the division of authority. He argued the charges are discriminatory and hit poor families hardest. AFL-CIO leaders in Cleveland protested the fee amid debate over access to state parks. Separately, Senator Charles Carney proposed a labor dispute hearing requirement before any court injunction.
