Rex Frost a 25 year old Gallipolis man was killed when a sedan driven by 18 year old William Foster swerved into a parked truck on Route 7 near the County Highway Garage in Maple Shade. Frost was thrown across the road and died from skull fracture and other injuries. Foster and two passengers received minor injuries. one passenger was hospitalized. Authorities investigated with local police and sheriff deputies.
Columbus January 18 State employes will be asked to pay one dollar a year each to fund a state retirement system. The money will cover actuarial medical services a secretary and clerical help for surveys to determine eligibility and to compile a roll of state workers. An assessment of 4 percent of salaries to fund pensions may be delayed a year and a half to two years after the bill passes due to data collection needs.
About 500 jobless protesters in Chicago ruined bricks at the Lawndale Emergency Relief Commission depot. They terrorized 120 officials and workers and slugged two policemen in a street melee after demanding the superintendent confer with a committee.

A coroner's verdict reports four deaths from a ferryboat accident on the Vanceburg to Sandy Springs route.
