Sixth Street Window Lost Steamboat Still Puzzles
The unsolved disappearance of the steamboat Iron Mountain haunts old rivermen along the Ohio and Mississippi. In 1985 it vanished after departing Vicksburg, with no witnesses or clues and the crew never seen again. A drifting fleet of barges witnessed later by a New Orleans bound steamer offered the only near-trace, as rivermen still ponder what happened.
